Oxford UCCE

The University Centre of Cricketing Excellence (UCCE) scheme comes from the desire of both the University of Oxford, and Oxford Brookes University, to further Youth and University cricket.

There are six centres of cricketing excellence in the UK,

  • Oxford (formed of University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University students)
  • Durham

  • Leeds-Bradford (Leeds University, Leeds Metropolitan University, Bradford College and University of Bradford)

  • Cardiff (University of Cardiff and Cardiff Metropolitan University)

  • Loughborough

  • Cambridge (University of Cambridge)

The scheme is designed to foster young cricketing talent by preparing individuals for the First-Class game whilst also allowing for the completion of higher education.

Oxford UCCE is led by Head Coach Graham Charlesworth, himself a former Durham University and Cambridge University cricketer. A level 4 ECB Coach, Charlesworth, with the support of a variety of techinical coaches, operates a year-round program of specialised cricket coaching, fitness, gym sessions, nutrition, lifestyle, psychological and media training.

In 2023, Oxford UCCE will be led by Prav Chahal (Oxford Brookes).
