Oxford University v Harlequins 12/05/07
Venue:
Fixture: Blues Match
|
Oxford University 17-0 in 3.1 overs. |
Harlequins |
Result: Match Abandoned. Heavy Rain.
The Blues annual match against the former Blues (Harlequins) only lasted 3 overs before heavy rain prevented any further play, which was a pity as many of the former Blues of the 1946 team had gathered to watch the match, and no doubt reminisce about their own cricketing achievements some 60 years ago.

Oxford University v Oxfordshire 30/04/07

Fixture: Blues Match
|
Oxford University 239-8 in 50.0 overs. |
Oxfordshire 207-10 in 46.1 overs. |
Result: Oxford University won by 32 runs.
The University gave a vastly improved performance in their second outing of the season in their annual encounter with the County side.
They were given a storming start by Ollie Sadler (80) and newcomer Alex Ball (65) who put on 126 for the 2nd wicket.
A quick fire 33 not out (20 balls) from Charlie Hill contributed towards 58 runs from the last 5 overs to set Oxfordshire a stiff target.
The County made a steady start thanks to Chris Sandbach (35), a squad member of the UCCE side, and were well placed when needing 111 runs to win with 17 overs remaining and 6 wickets in hand.
Nick Woods (3-22 from 9 overs) and Ollie Sadler (4-39 from 10 overs) then slowed the run rate down with some accurate spin bowling resulting in an eventual comfortable victory for the Blues.

Oxford University v Oxford C.C. 22/04/07
Venue: The Parks, Oxford
Fixture: Blues Match
|
Oxford University 233-8 in 50.0 overs. |
Oxford C.C. 234-3 in 42.3 overs. |
Result: Oxford University won by 9 wickets.
In the first Blues outing of the season, Olly Sadler (98) and Peter Dunbar (37) put on 140 for the first wicket, but the remaining batting failed to keep up the momentum, although 39 runs did come from the final 3 overs thanks to 23 off 21 balls from Charlie Hill and 13 off 3 balls from Lewis Dingle.
The Blues bowling then struggled to contain the Oxford C.C. batting, resulting in an easy win for the Club side with 7.3 overs to spare, thanks to an unbroken partnership of 114 between Graham Charlesworth (72*) the Blues and UCCE coach, and Shamil Mendis (57*) a squad member of the UCCE side. Both play regularly for Oxford C.C. when they are not involved with University cricket.
