Thank to Jason Molins, an OUCC team mate of Dave, who shares the following:

"Thought I'd share a humorous story about Eads highlighting how super-talented he was.

We were both making our First class debuts for Oxford against Sussex at The Parks. During the team meeting before the game it was decided not to bowl “short and wide” to their danger man, Chris Adams, as his favourite shot was the square cut. At the time he was the hottest property in County cricket and would eventually go on to play Test cricket

Sussex batted first and were 41-1 after 16 overs, Adams 17 not out. Eads came on to bowl with Adams was on strike. First ball - wide down the leg-side. Not a great start. Second ball - short and wide which Adams hit straight to Byron Byrne at point - OUT. We all gathered in a huddle and cracked up laughing about how our game plan was the total opposite !!! Next ball was to Mike Newell - OUT - caught Mark Wagh at first slip. So his first 3 deliveries in First class cricket read W (wide), W, W

Eads was an absolute LEGEND both on and off the field."
