OUCC Blues - BUCS Semi Final

The blues have recently crushed Exeter University in a match which decided who would progress to the Semi final of the national BUCS Universities league.

After winning the toss, Matt Hughes batted first – this proved to be a good decision as Hughes and in form man Dan Escott were 93 of 15 overs before the first wicket of Escott fell. Hughes fell shortly after as manipulating the spin proved difficult. Jack Harrison helped the blues wrestle to 230 with a fantastic run-a-ball contribution of 40.

After some brilliantly tight new ball bowling from Mike Dawes, the pressure built until the release came when Escott took 4 wickets with his aggressive leg spin which caused Exeter to slump to 110 all out.

This victory brings Oxford into the National Universities league semi final which will be held in Manchester on Thursday 15th June at Hyde Cricket Club, the boys will then travel to Cambridge Thursday night before the first big game of the Varsity triad, the t20, on Friday 16th- start at 2:30pm.
