"A tour to England is the highlight of any Australian cricketer's career – and for those University players fortunate enough to be selected for the two-day game against Oxford University, it is a surely an experience that you will always fondly remember.
The friendships which develop during matches such as these have the tendency to last the test of time.
The team is drawn from eight major University Cricket Clubs in our six first-class states and the ACT. Each of these clubs has illustrious histories and many Australian Test cricketers have represented their country after playing for them.
At national level, England has won the last two Ashes contests, so there is a strong hope that this group of Australians can turn the tables on our English counterparts at the picturesque Parks in Oxford.
At Cricket Australia, we wish you every success in this important inaugural fixture against Oxford University."
– James Sutherland, Chief Executive Officer, Cricket Australia
