After bowling Cambridge out cheaply the Tics made hard work of their Twenty20 Varsity victory of Cambridge Crusaders at Marston, in a precursor to tomorrows Blues Varsity Twenty20.
Oxford fielded very well showing exceptional energy and bowled the tabs out for 79 runs. Pick of the bowlers were Hopes and Haines who each returned outstanding figures of 2 wkts for 12 runs off 4 overs.
Hirst was moved to opener to get the innings off to a quick start, which is exactly what he did, smacking the first ball over the bowlers head for 6!
Cue a mid order collapse to make things interesting but in the end Oxford made 80-7 off 17.2 overs to secure the victory.
Add this victory to that of their one day varsity at Fenners last Friday, Oxford must be favourites when the teams are back in action on Monday at The Parks for the 3 day Varsity, 11am start.
