Men's blues

2018 was one of the most succesful years to date for the Blues, winning all three varsity matches. An 83 run victory in the varsity T20 match was set up by a century opening stand between Matt Hughes and Jamie Gnodde, before Hughes’ 134 saw the Blues home in the 50-over match at Lords. In the 4 day game, Dan Escott and Matt Naylor put on 267 for the 5th wicket in the first innings, with the latter scoring a double century, resulting in a 9 wicket victory. The Blues also beat the MCC, Free Foresters and MCCU during the season.

The team’s prospects for 2019 look bright, with 7 returning Blues, as well as several strong additions to the squad. This gives the team a good mixture of experience and fresh-faces, who have brought a good intensity to pre-season training.

In addition to weekly BUCS fixtures and the T20 and Four Day Varsity matches, which are both being played away at Fenners this year, the Blues have an exciting fixture list for 2019. This includes annual fixtures against the Arabs, Harlequins, MCC, Free Foresters and Teddington CC, as well as a tour to Cape Town.
